Arrival in Brussels

Okay, so we're all here and finally getting settled. It's been a frantic first few days arriving sleep-deprived and jet-lagged in Brussels, going through orientation, getting set up in our homestays and beginning the whirlwind of internship interviews (not to mention the madness of the gay pride festival that we stumbled into on our first official day, which took over most of the streets of central downtown Brussels on Saturday!).

Brussels is definitely a bustling modern city, but the city center around the Grand Place is beautiful and quaint with fantastic Medieval architecture. And I can tell already that the frites and baguette sandwich shops will be very good friends of mine. Hoorah for cheap and tasty food!!

Here are a couple pictures from those first few days, including a shot of the St. Catherine Ibis Hotel (our home for the first official night and the scene of our last long, hot, and guilt-free water-wasting shower...). More updates to come later!!!
